NAIDOC Week 2024: Keep the Fire Burning

NAIDOC

During NAIDOC Week, we focus on increasing awareness about the treatment of our First Nations people, as well as celebrating their culture, traditions and achievements. This year’s theme of ‘Keep the Fire Burning: Blak, Loud and Proud’ will be observed from July 7th to July 14th.

As stated on the NAIDOC website, this year’s theme celebrates the unyielding spirit of our communities and invites all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced. The theme’s focus on keeping alive the ‘fire’ refers to the enduring strength and spirit of the First Nations cultures, despite all the challenges they have faced from generation to generation. Blak, Loud and Proud is a part of the theme, to continue to encourage our First Nations people t be unapologetic about their identity and culture.
