The World Day of Prayer is an international ecumenical Christian laywomen’s initiative. It is run under the motto “Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action”, and is celebrated annually in over 170 countries on the first Friday in March. The movement aims to bring together women of various races, cultures and traditions in a yearly common Day of Prayer, as well as in closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout the year. Saints are those who are recognised as having an exceptional degree of holiness or likeness to God. It comes from the Greek work ‘hagious’ which means “consecrated to God”. October is a great month to reflect on the Saints of the Catholic Church as we celebrate many of the Churches greatest.

Dementia Action Week

Dementia Action Week takes place from the 18th to the 24th of September, with this year’s theme of ‘Act Now for a Dementia-Friendly Future’. The focus of this campaign is to reduce the stigmas around dementia and to reduce discrimination experienced by individuals living with dementia. During this time, we are encouraged to learn more about the needs of these individuals, and ways to support them.
